Spanking other men's wives: rare art from classic mags

My favourite stories from the classic spanking magazines are almost always the ones that are also cuckolding stories, with dominant men spanking other men's wives before having their way with them.  Somewhere between this and the solely spanking stories are scenes when a dominant male spanks a married woman, without sex necessarily following between participants afterwards (though it may be implied, and you can bet she will be getting it from her husband later in any case!)

Sometimes the revelation that a spanked woman is married comes merely in a throwaway line or comment during a story, which doesn't make it any less titilating! In 'The Shelter 12 Club' (Janus 142) a strict air raid warden spanks and straps a succession of ladies, including women whose husbands are away fighting as well as careless women who fall afoul of the strict wartime regulations and uppity daughters who have let their wartime service go to their heads!

'The Punishment Gallery' in Janus 60 recounts a rather elaborate set-up for publicly humiliating and punishing wayward females in the Edwardian era, including married ones...

Social status was irrelevant; shopgirls and downstairs maids were posed impartially with aristocratic ladies and Cambridge scholaresses. Indeed, without their clothes on it was by no means easy to tell them apart! ...this was Elspeth, the 23-year-old wife of an elderly British industrialist...exhibited here and taken to the room for speaking flirtatiously with a handsome business rival during a dinner last week.

Judging by the letters pages of Janus and Februs, a wife being spanked by another man is a common fantasy between spanking couples, and is certainly one I share. Stories featuring such scenarios appeared often throughout Janus and Februs and took many forms. The spanker might be in a position of authority that gives him the power to spank other men's wives. 'Edith Tell' in Februs 43 is an account of an innocent woman sentenced to a whipping in a medieval gaol in front of a baying crowd...

Plus a nice little side-note on how maidservants may be whipped for theft!

However the story's throwaway reference to 'disobedient wives' in the line below is particularly interesting... 

Whores, night-walkers, the loud and foul-mouthed might easily find themselves brought to Bridewell for correction. But so might unmarried mothers, runaway apprentices and even disobedient wives. Unlike today, guilt or innocence was decided in a far more arbitrary, informal way...Good may come of whipping an innocent girl if it keeps her from sin and serves as an example to others!

Presumably the disobedient wives' husbands would be the ones who sent them for discipline, and judging by the illustrations and descriptions in the story they might soon regret their actions, as their wives are stripped and whipped in public (though of course they also wouldn't be able to stop themselves enjoying the spectacle).

Or imagine if the decision was taken out of hen-pecked husbands' hands, and wives were sent for discipline by their neighbours or their in-laws, or their priests?

The position of the husband or boyfriend in these situations is always interesting. Is he being made to watch, or is he unaware of his partner's predicament?

In 'Summer of the Smacked Bottom' (Februs 33) a man has to watch his girlfriend take a thrashing from her strict troupe leader...

Eventually insisting that he give her the subsequent spanking instead...

In 'She Stoops to Conquer' (Februs 10) a struggling actress blows off her boyfriend in order to attend an audition with ten others girls.

First they must bend over in nothing but stockings and heels, with the three best bottoms being selected. Then comes the screen test, which involves a master caning a maid...

Even after she gets the part, rehearsals involve much more caning and spending the night in the hotel suite of the leading man... never mind about her boyfriend!

Or perhaps the husband is aware, but made to be elsewhere, as in 'Nicolette' (Janus 112).

Married couple Ross and Angela introduce a curious Middle Eastern beauty to English corporal punishment, teasing her with tales of the married woman who comes to them for sound thrashings before being driven home in tears to be consoled by her husband for the rest of the evening...

'Six strokes of the cane for scratching the car by careless driving. Six more for flirting with Stewart's best friend. For buying gin instead of groceries with the housekeeping money Caroline has her bare legs smacked scarlet with a plastic rule, thighs and calves. I expect Ross will show you what that feels like some time this evening.'

Or the time they bought a sofa and tested it thoroughly in the store in front of everyone! After all these stories, Nicolette is very much ready to be punished... by both of them!

The two-parter 'Privatised Punishment' (Februs 7 and 8) is something of a throwback to the tales from older spanking mags which depicted a patriarchal near-future where older men were free to dish out discipline (and more) to any lady who took their fancy (married or otherwise!)

It depicts a Britain that has become a right-wing neoconservative utopia so horrifying that one rather suspects it was intended as a parody of those earlier stories and the 'Bring Back the Birch' brigade in general.

One upside of course is that judicial corporal punishment is very much back in vogue, and we follow the ordeal of a married woman undergoing a lengthy and humiliating ordeal as punishment for parking illegally.

Eventually she does receive some solace...in her cell afterwards from the supervising nurse, while the orderly watches on the security camera and wanks himself silly!

Alternatively, and as is apparently often the case in real life, a wife might crave corporal punishment, but her husband is unwilling to dish it out. And so (probably a bit less commonly in real life) she visits an experienced disciplinarian to get what she needs. In Janus 135 an otherwise respectable wife and schoolteacher regularly makes 'A Visit to the Headmaster' for the much-needed thrashings she can't get from her husband...

Twelve times now he swung the cane...streaks of white which turned to red then tramlined to weals, a livid tracery she would have to hide from her man...

She was here to be caned, not touched... Geoff could touch and fondle her later, and be as lascivious as he liked about it, and look stupid and amazed at the power of her orgasm, or maybe three or four orgasms...

In 'The Away Day Girl' (Fessee 2) a northern housewife lies to her husband and travels down to London to satisfy her craving for spanking and caning... and she only went last month!

Of course some married women aren't aware of how submissive they are until introduced to the pleasures of discipline by a dominant older man...

While her husband is away on business, a bored housewife agrees to be 'Maid For a Day' (Februs 9) for a charity raffle, and is quite taken with her employer's collection of antique 'judicial' artefacts.

When she goes snooping on his computer and deletes an important file, she suggests he punish her for it across his antique birching stool... and afterwards suggests she continue to return once a fortnight to 'clean' even when her husband is at home!

I suppose a widow would still count as another man's wife, and my liking for them is well-documented! 'And Having Writ' in Janus 68 tells the story of a young widow in Victorian times  who turns to a 'Purveyor of Domestic Implements' to guide her in maintaining discipline in her household. Eventually she takes one of her maids to him to be thrashed... which of course is just a pretext for getting a taste of it herself!

And it isn't just dominant men who enjoy disciplining wives... 'Honey-Chile' in Janus 66 is the story of a female English aristocrat caning an ambitious young woman for the benefit of American moviemakers and their 'research' for an upcoming period drama.

Though where it really comes into its own is in her lectures on the art of thrashing and her loving descriptions of her many canes and the girls and society hostesses she has used them on...

With great benefits for their marriages when they return to their husbands, naturally!

Stories that blur the line here are where a married woman is submissive to a 'Master' who is not her husband. Judging by the interviews and articles in Janus and Februs, this may be fairly common in the spanking community.

'The Barrister' in Februs 9 dates a legal secretary who eventually reveals that she is submissive and has a Master she visits regularly.

After witnessing her Master in action, her boyfriend tells her he will be assuming both roles... and his first act as Master will be to punish her for hiding the truth for so long!

In 'The Best of Hands' (Februs 16) a Master leaves his submissive in the care of Madame Guidetty, a formidable patrician who runs a kind of boarding service for slaves while their masters are away.

It's very much a family business, with Madaime Guidetty's daughter, son and husband all taking part in the discipline of their guests. Probably most delicious is the revelation that the young woman is a professional with a career of her own.

What would my colleagues and subordinates think if they knew I was chairing a meeting with a bottom still sore from the lash? That beneath my Ralph Lauren skirt I was pantie-less, because my flamed cheeks could not stand the slightest brush of underwear? That my buttocks were bruised and wealed by the man I love?

Especially when she sees who is spanked across the young Master Guidetty's lap...

In 'The Bottoms Up Club' (Fessee 9), a husband spanks his wife in front of everyone at a cocktail party following an argument , and gives her the belt when they get home before they make love. The spectacle inspires their friends to found the eponymous club, where the wives are punished weekly in front of everyone.

The husbands draw lots to decide who will punish who, with the narrator being drawn by the most sadistic member, and her own husband getting to punish the voluptuous hostess...

'Charles was next, and he had picked Heidi. His pleasure at the prospect of tanning those giant hindquarters was ill-concealed, I thought, as he marched her to the platform.'

'Through a Glass Starkly' in Fessee 11 describes the antics of a very British 'cult', who gather in a remote church to watch the whipping of a succession of women ('virgins, wives, lovers, employees...') in order to provoke a miracle.

However, some of the depictions are rather more realistic and suburban, with a veneer of 'discipline' and 'respectability' to mask the obvious sexual gratification of everyone involved. 'The Baker's Dozen' in Februs 42 is the standout in this regard... I can really imagine myself and my wife as members its 'Spanking Club'!

At its evening meetings, female members are 'randomly' selected to be spanked in front of an audience by senior male members for trivial misdemeanours. One woman is spanked for making her husband late for work twice in one week (one wonders what she could have been doing...)

'Joanne Smith, it's confession time for you, Madam. What have you to tell?'
'Joanne looked at the ceiling for a minute.
'I...um...made my husband late for work twice this week.'
"Oh dear, oh dear. And do you consider this crime worthy of punishment?'
